Community Clubs

Community Sports Clubs and Groups at the Sports Hall

Each week the Sports Hall hosts a variety of sports clubs and groups, all of which are open to the general public to join in.  Each club has qualified coaches and tutors on hand to help you learn new skills and gain new knowledge.

We welcome any new club or group to host their lessons in the Sports Hall, and offer great rates to hire out individual courts or the whole hall.  We can also provide any equipment needed.

Monday

Over 45's Football Club 7pm - 8pm (Oct - March Only)

This session is run by a community based group of men all over 45 years old, who meet weekly to play 5-a-side football. Anyone over the age of 45 is welcome to join in, and the cost is £3 per person. You will need non-marking footwear and refreshments. Contact Robert Hayes on 01720 422402 for more information.

Badminton Club 8pm - 10pm

Run by qualified volunteer coaches, these sessions are for 18+ years old. The current price is £3 per hour payable on the night. The has some spare rackets and shuttlecocks, you can also hire these for a small fee from reception. You will need non-marking footwear and refreshments. Tuesday

Ai Ki Do 7pm - 8:30pm

Ai Ki Do is a modern, non-violent martial art the purpose of which is to promote a sense of inner calmness and peace of mind. Each student will practise to his or her own level of fitness. The study of Ai Ki Do helps an individual with confidence and a more postive attitude. Both sexes and all ages practise equally. You will need to wear loose clothing. Table Tennis Club 7:30pm - 9pm

Everyone is welcome, though children up to the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or carer. The club has their own bats and nets available. The cost is £1.50 per hour payable on the night. You will need non-marking footwear and refreshments. Please contact Mike Brown on 01720 422903

Wednesday

Circuit Training 5:30pm - 6:30pm

These sessions are run by the school p.e teacher Martyn Songhurst. The class is designed to improve strength and aerobic fitness using a variety of equipment and body weight exercises. All over the age of 16 welcome, at a cost of £1 per person. You will need non-marking shoes and refreshments. Please contact the Sports Hall on 01720 424373.

Five-a-side Football 6:30pm - 8:30pm

This is indoor football, with no limit with how many can take part. Random teams of 5 players are selected to take part in round-robin games of 8 minutes. All ages can take part but children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult. Although competitive, the aim emphasis is enjoyment and fun. The cost is £5 per person for the 2 hour session. No kit is provided other than bibs, footballs and goals. Please wear non-marking shoes and bring refreshments. Thursday

Children's Judo Club 5:30pm - 8pm

Judo is run by a committee of community based people and coached by fully qualified senseis. Booking is essential due to waiting lists and insurance needs. This club is run during term time only. Please contact Faye Guy on 01720 423275.

Netball Club 8pm - 9:30pm (Oct - March Only)

This club is open to both sexes interested in playing netball and learning the rules of the game. Great for all ages. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult. Sessions are between £3-£5 per person depending on how many play. Hockey Club 2:30pm - 4pm (March - Oct Only)
