Council hosts Corporate Peer Challenge

This week the Council of the Isles of Scilly are hosting a Corporate Peer Challenge: a review designed to test the Council’s performance and plans and assess how the organisation compares to other authorities, identifying areas for improvement.

The Local Government Association (LGA) organised challenge is a tool designed to support and bring about improvement in Local Authority services. The focus is on leadership, financial resilience and corporate capacity.

Professionals from across local government arrived yesterday and will be meeting with Members and officers over the next two days to facilitate this process.

Once the sessions are complete on Thursday the panel will provide immediate feedback followed by a detailed report setting out their findings and recommendations.

Cllr Amanda Martin, Chairman of the Council, said “The review process will allow staff and members to compare their working practices to those of peers from other authorities. It is also an opportunity for people within the Council to suggest areas where they feel improvements could be made.”
