The Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authorities (IFCAs) have now been in operation for 4 years. Set up in April 2011, the IFCAs act as regulators covering the 0-6 nautical mile zone of the English coastline. The vision of the association is to:
“Lead, champion and manage a sustainable marine environment and inshore fisheries, by successfully securing the right balance between social, environmental and economic benefits to ensure healthy seas, sustainable fisheries and a viable industry."
There are 10 regional IFCAs in England including one on Scilly. To mark the 4-year anniversary, the association have released the attached report which covers some of the achievements of the authorities over the last 4 years.
