Isles of Scilly Housing Survey

In the coming days, all households will be asked to take part in a housing survey. This is to assess the current and future housing needs of people living on the Isles of Scilly.

Questionnaires are being sent to all resident households. The survey will ask people to comment on topics such as whether their current accommodation is adequate and what they think their future housing requirements will be. All householders are encouraged to complete the questionnaire, whether they believe themselves to be adequately housed or not. This will help to provide an overall picture of the housing situation locally.

Questionnaires must be returned by Wednesday, 16 December 2015.

The Council is required by government to have a clear understanding of housing requirements on the Isles of Scilly and to carry out a housing survey every few years. The results of the survey are essential in helping the Council to develop its housing strategy and planning policies. The results will also be used to demonstrate the need for funding to Government and housing providers.

All information will be treated as strictly confidential and the Council will not have access to the response forms. The questionnaires are anonymous. The survey is being conducted by David Couttie Associates (DCA), an independent housing, planning and regeneration consultancy. DCA have experience conducting housing surveys for local authorities across the UK.

Cllr Amanda Martin, Chairman of the Council, said “Please take a few moments to respond to our Housing Survey. It is vital that we understand the true housing needs of our community in order to plan more effectively for the future.”
