Two of the islands’ talented young judoka, Harry Stone (16) and Keith Guy (11), are travelling to the Netherlands this weekend to compete in the Open Groningse Team Judo Championship where they will represent Great Britain. Harry will be competing in the senior section of the event, which is a ranking tournament that counts towards Olympic selection. Keith was selected at a recent squad training event in Tamworth as one of the elite to attend the Dutch event. Funding from the Council’s Children’s Services budget will support the cost of the boys’ access to the event. Congratulations to both boys on their excellent efforts. We wish them well and look forward to finding out how they get on.
