Parent Governor Representatives needed for Children’s Committee

We are required to appoint 2 people to be Parent Governor Representatives who will sit on the Children’s Committee of the Council of the Isles of Scilly.

The role of a parent governor representative is to act as an apolitical voice for parents in the area on matters which concern parents of pupils maintained by the authority.

The Representatives will have the opportunity to provide information to the Committee to guide decision-making. Parent Governor Representatives have the right to vote at the Committee on any matter related to the education authority’s schools and pupils, but not on matters relating to capital or revenue budgets. This Committee meets at least 3 times a year.

To be eligible you must be the parent of a child between 4 and 18 years of age, not employed in any capacity by the Council of the Isles of Scilly and not be an elected Member. Full details and a nomination form are provided in the attached documents.

If you feel that you or someone you know could contribute to the Children’s Committee as a Parent Governor Representative, then please put yourself forward or help another eligible parent to be nominated.

Completed nomination forms must be returned by noon on Wednesday 20 April 2016.

If you need help completing the form or require more information, please don’t hesitate to contact Sue Pritchard on 01720 424008 or email spritchard@scilly.gov.uk.
