Road Resurfacing Update - 9th June

The road to Old Town

Further to the information released on Friday the road works today will start with the resurfacing of Church Road from Pilots’ Retreat working towards St Mary’s Church. Depending on progress this may be followed by continuation of the resurfacing of Porthcressa and Buzza Street.

Due to the narrowness of Church Road, especially at the start by Pilot’s Retreat this will mean that the road will be closed while work is going on. Works are expected to start at approximately 9 am. For businesses, residents and visitors the best access to the Airport and Old Town will be along Telegraph Road and via Parting Carn.

The road will be re-opened as soon as the works have been completed or if not complete then in the evening after work (between 6 and 7pm) for passage of vehicles in as much as practicable.

You are kindly requested to avoid making tight turns on the newly laid asphalt.

Lagan Construction Ltd sincerely apologises for any disturbance during these works and thanks you in advance for your co-operation and forbearance.

Please contact us on 07825 167569 if there are any problems during this work. The St Mary’s Island Road Resurfacing Works are financed by the Council of the Isles of Scilly.
