Safe food preparation this Christmas

Christmas is fast approaching and so is the perennial task of cooking Christmas dinner.

David Currie, the Council's Environmental Health Officer, says “The Christmas period presents a big challenge when it comes to safe food preparation. Cooking for more people than normal can mean having to handle different defrosting and cooking times for food, making sure that large amounts of food are stored safely, and ensuring that any leftovers are still safe to eat, all while reducing unnecessary food waste.”

To help you this Christmas the Food Standards Agency have put together a checklist with advice on food storage, defrosting, contamination and using leftovers.
