The South West Regional Flood and Coastal Committee is one of 12 Committees across the country that make key decisions on local priorities for flood and coastal risk management.
The Environment Agency is looking for 3 members of the public to join the Committee to represent conservation, inland flooding interests and utilities. Applicants do not need to be experts in flood and coastal risk management, but some technical understanding would be beneficial.
Alan Burrows, Environment Agency Area Manager for Devon and Cornwall said: ‘These roles are important to help reduce flood risk in the Area. We are keen to hear from people who have a real passion to make a positive difference to communities, the environment and the local economy in the face of the challenge of our changing climate and are particularly keen to hear from young people and those from ethnically diverse backgrounds in a bid to better reflect the rich multicultural diversity of the Area.’
The Committee meets four times a year at locations within Devon and Cornwall although successful candidates may also be asked to attend additional meetings. These are unpaid roles but reasonable expenses, including travel, can be claimed.
