Waste & Recycling Collections by the Council

The Council can now collect mixed recycling of paper, card, plastic (bottles, pots, tubs and trays) and cans, along with residual waste collections from householders and businesses.

What can I expect?

  • Your collection day might have changed, but we will continue to collect once a week.

  • We will no longer access properties to collect material.

  • You will be required to present your material for collection at the highway or the kerbside nearest to your property.

  • ‘Side items’, such as loose cardboard boxes, will no longer be collected.

  • All material will need to be contained within the correct sacks some of which will be provided by the Council.

Assisted Collections

The Council offers an Assisted Collection Scheme for householders who are unable to transport their sacks to designated collection points due to ill health, infirmity or disability and without occupants in the household able to assist them (16 years or over). Please contact the Infrastructure Office for details on how to apply. 01720 424450 or email infrastructure@scilly.gov.uk

Commercial Customers

If your property is listed for Non-Domestic Rates (NDR), regardless if your property is exempt, you will need to pay for your waste & recycling to be collected by the Council. Commercial waste & recycling sacks can be purchased through the Council’s customer service hubs located at the Library and Wellbeing Centre. Please call 01720 424400 or email enquiries@scilly.gov.uk
