From: Pearce, Julian Sent: 10 October 2016 12:17 To: Planning Cc: Walton,Lisa; King, Andrew Subject: RE: P/16/097/FUL Consultation Application for resubmission of new boat shed and slip at Palace Row, New Grimsby, Tresco Thank you for consulting the AONB Partnership on this proposed planning application. This response does not include any input from Natural England. It is believed that they will be issuing a response on this application (possibly in their role as providing advice to the MMO as part of the standard process for issuing MMO licences) and do not wish to sign up to 2 responses on the same issue. It is understood that this is a resubmission of an approved development relating to an increase in the length of the proposed slipway. As such the Planning Authority will already have taken in account the impact on the AONB designation of the boat shed and the comments provided are concerning the slipway. The only matters of concern that have been raised are in relation to; 1. That the granite boulders to the flanks of the slip should be local granite or as close a match as possible so as not to look incongruous in the setting. 2. That any material moved from the foreshore and nearshore area during construction of the slipway should be-redistributed and not lost from that environment. 3. That the flood defence should offer adequate defence to the same or higher level than is already provided by the existing sea wall. Please note, the Partnership is not resourced to respond to all planning applications affecting the Isles of Scilly AONB, and has not in making this response studied the comprehensive detail of this application. The AONB Partnership may choose to make further comments on this application, but if not, the absence of further detailed consideration and comments by the Partnership should NOT be interpreted as suggesting that this application raises no further issues regarding the AONB designation. This remains a matter for the Council to take fully into consideration, fulfilling its statutory duty in respect of the AONB, in reaching a decision on the application.
