Sew Christmas

Course description:

A one day course to bring your sewing machine, and use it to make a hanging gift box and/or some Christmas bunting. Some sewing machines are available at Lifelong learning if you do not have one.

The course will include using your machine, and applying different techniques, to increase your sewing confidence.

You will make a template for something and learn about haberdashery and fabrics, while having fun making a Christmas item.

Learning Objectives:

To learn to measure up for a template.

To learn to improvise and adjust sizings on a simple pattern diagram using accurate measurements.

To learn about haberdashery, what is available and how to source it.

To learn the uses of different stitches.

To complete a simple Christmas project.

Advice will be given in the class on sourcing materials.

Don’t be afraid to try; it’s great fun with a sense of achievement at the end. You should be able to use what you learn today afterwards.
