How to pay the Council

Telephone

We accept most debit cards and credit cards, simply ring our phone number 0300 1234 105. Please make sure you have your bill or invoice number as you will need this to make a payment.

In Person

You can pay most bills at the Library or Carn Gwaval (Sports Hall) reception. Please make sure you have your bill or invoice number as you will need this to make a payment.

Online

Online payments are now available for the following council bills:

  • Council Tax
  • Non-domestic rates (also known as business rates)
  • Housing Benefit overpayments
  • Sundry debts (where a payment has been missed and must be paid to the council at a later date)

To pay one of the above bills online, visit our Isles of Scilly Online Payments webpage.

Most major credit or debit cards are accepted (not Diners Card or American Express). All online card payments are protected by Transport Layer Security (TLS), as recommended by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council and are directly processed using the Pay360 by Capita service.

If you experience any problems when trying to make an online payment, please call the relevant number on the bill you are trying to pay.

Direct Debit

If you would like to pay your council tax or business rates by direct debit, please download and complete the mandate on this page. Please make sure you add your account reference number when completing it. You can send to us by email or in the post:

Alternatively you can call us to set up a direct debit over the phone (or ask us to send you mandate). Call 0300 1234 105

For all bills other than council tax and business rates please contact enquiries@scilly.gov.uk saying the bill you would like to pay and we will send a direct debit mandate to you.

Standing Orders

We accept standing orders via your bank. You will need to tell us first if you wish to make payments by standing order.

BACS

If your invoice or bill states payment is accepted by BACS then please take care to ensure the bank reference quoted is the reference on your bill. Please send remittances to finance@scilly.gov.uk.
