We’re pleased to announce that the contract for delivering the Council’s Visitor Information Service has been awarded to the Islands’ Partnership. They will take over the management and provision of the Service, which is based in the Porthcressa Shelter, for 2 years starting from 1 April 2015.
The Visitor Information Service plays a key role in supporting tourism on the islands. It has been run by the Council for 27 years, with the aim of ensuring that visitors experience the maximum enjoyment and appreciation of the islands during their stay.
“The Islands’ Partnership has considerable expertise and experience in promoting the islands and building a coherent brand that benefits both our visitors and our businesses. We’re confident that they will be excellent custodians of the Visitor Information Service and will bring new energy and ideas to the facility,” said Theo Leijser, Chief Executive of the Council of the Isles of Scilly.
"We are delighted to have been awarded the contract for the delivery of the Visitor Information Service. The provision of quality visitor information and a welcoming face to face service remain an important part of the visitor experience on Scilly and the Islands' Partnership is ideally placed to deliver this alongside our wider destination management and marketing roles," said David Jackson, Executive Director of the Islands' Partnership
The Council will provide full support to Islands’ Partnership during the transition over the coming weeks and will continue to work with Islands’ Partnership and other businesses to ensure that visitors to the Isles of Scilly enjoy the best possible experience for years to come.
