A drop-in session about the work of the Local Action Group (LAG) will be held in the Old Wesleyan Chapel, St. Mary’s on Friday 25th July from 3pm-5pm. The session provides opportunities for businesses, community groups and stakeholders in Scilly to find out how to get involved with shaping the Islands’ future, how to become a LAG member and explore the potential for funding a project from next year.
This will be followed 5-7pm by the first meeting of the new Local Action Group where membership will be confirmed and work begun on what LAG members want to see done in the next programme.
Guidelines set out by the EU and Defra suggest the next tranche of funding will focus on projects which deliver economic growth and create new jobs.
Sarah Taylor, IOS LAG Programme Manager, said: "We want to build on the success of the last programme where 81 projects were funded. I believe we have created an appetite and confidence within business to have a “can do” attitude, we have sparked up many peoples’ imaginations and this could lead on to great things for these Islands. “
