The Council is working with the NHS to transform health and care facilities on the Isles of Scilly. The NHS has secured funding to construct new buildings and refurbish existing buildings on the site of St Mary’s Community Hospital.
Once construction is complete, the Council’s residential, domiciliary and respite care services will cease to be delivered from Park House and will instead be provided from the new site. The facility will also provide NHS inpatient beds, a modern maternity suite and outpatient services. Overall, the aim is to use the latest digital technology to better connect the off islands to the hospital and the hospital to the mainland. This will help to reduce health-related travel for both islanders and clinicians, and provide patients with the best possible care at home or as close to home as possible.
You can follow the development of the new facility and the integration of services on the following dedicated webpage: Integrated Health and Social Care Facility
In the meantime, the Council’s adult social care services should be accessed in the usual ways. We will provide updates to service users and the wider community as the project develops.
