On the evening of Tuesday 9th September 2014, a training exercise will be held for St Mary’s airport at an undisclosed location on St Marys.
The exercise will involve people from various agencies including the Council of the Isles of Scilly, Police, Fire and Rescue Service, the islands’ Health and Ambulance Services, the RNLI and the Maritime Coastguard Agency. This key exercise should help to ensure that the islands are fully prepared for a real life emergency.
After the event there will be a review of the exercise and further information available. However at this time, the Council would like to make islanders and visitors aware that the event will be taking place. Whilst there may be some lights and noise from the airport and another location for part of the evening, please rest assured that there is no actual danger to those at the scene or nearby.
If anyone has any further concerns they should contact the One Stop Shop on 01720 424000.
