The Council of the Isles of Scilly are reviewing the provision of services available to people caring for individuals with Autism.
Autism is a developmental disability that affects how a person communicates with and relates to other people and also how they make sense of the world around them. Over 650,000 people in the UK have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), equivalent to approximately 1% of the population. A significant portion of this group includes adults who face unemployment and remain reliant on the care and support of others.
The review consists of a self-assessment that is designed to identify areas of strength and areas in need of further development. This will be submitted to the Department of Health.
We are keen to engage with people whose lives are affected by Autism, to ensure that our response is as accurate as possible.
