We have received a number of calls from people who are concerned about the availability of commercial waste sacks. The following is intended to clarify the situation.
Commercial waste sacks are due to arrive on the islands in time for the scheme starting on the 6 April. Currently we are accepting pre-orders from customers to ensure that as soon as the sacks arrive they can be allocated without delay. When the sacks arrive, there will be enough for anyone who requires the bags.
At this time, we have no reason to believe that the sacks will not be here in time for the system to commence as planned. However, should there be any delays the Council will be taking a pragmatic approach to the start of the new system for commercial waste collection until the waste sacks do arrive.
