Two members of the local electorate have requested that a local by-election be called for St Mary's in relation to the 3 vacancies for councillor positions on the island.
In consequence a notice of election has now been issued (see attached) with a view to a contested poll taking place on Thursday 16 June 2016.
Nominations for the vacant posts can now be received by the Returning Officer and the Deputy Returning Officer, and Nomination Packs are now available from the Town Hall One Stop Shop.
If you are interested in becoming a Councillor or would like to nominate someone, please note that nominations must be received in accordance with the notice of election by no later than 4pm on Friday 20 May.
In order for a contested election to occur, there must be more than 3 nominated candidates. If the Council receives 3 or fewer nominations, then no poll will be required and all nominees will be elected as members of the Council automatically.
