We’re making some changes to our phone system and reception points that will affect how you contact us. The changes are happening as a result of the modernisation of our finance and IT systems under a new collaboration with Cornwall Council. This should result in easier transactions, more secure payments and improved contact with the Council.
New Phone Number
From 1 March, we will have a new switchboard number to better enable us to deal with your enquiries and route calls to relevant members of staff. This number is charged at the normal local rate.
0300 1234 105
Internal Council phone numbers will continue to use the 01720 424 XXX format, but they will also be changing so any old numbers you have for staff will not work. If you need to contact someone and do not know the new internal number, please call the number above.
There may be some issues with the lines over the next few days as the transfer to the new system is implemented. Please bear with us and we apologise for any inconvenience.
Changes to reception points
The Town Hall reception service will cease from 5 March, however, the room will remain open as a self-service meeting space equipped with a seating area and phone to contact staff on internal numbers.
The Council will operate 2 reception desks from 5 March onwards: one at the Library and the other at the Carn Gwaval Wellbeing Centre. Customers will be able to make all of the normal transactions and enquiries from these places. We have also increased the opening times to ensure that customers can access our services throughout the working day. Carn Gwaval will now open in the mornings and the library will remain open over lunchtimes. The full opening times are set out below.

Secure payment handling and new finance teams
We’ll be introducing new chip and pin machines which, along with our improved finance and IT systems, will ensure that your data is handled securely whether making a payment in person or over the phone. We'll also be using Cornwall Council's finance team to process payments and ensure that there is always someone on hand to help with your enquiries.
