Storm Aiden has been named by Met Eireann for very windy conditions across Ireland, plus northern Scotland, through the weekend. Although we escape the worst of these winds – we will still see some windy and also wet weather tonight through to early Saturday afternoon.
We may also see weather warnings issued for the rain and wind on Sunday/Sunday night.
Saturday in more detail: More rain tonight with a spell of really quite wet weather, with amounts of rainfall 10-20mm, possibly up to 40mm over Bodmin Moor, Dartmoor and Exmoor, which is forecast to move from west to east – reaching Cornwall and IoS around dawn and Dorset mid/late morning and expected to last around 2 to 4 hours in any one place, before clearing away eastwards. Accompanying this rain are expected to be some squally, strong winds – even coastal gales – with gusts up to 60/65mph on coasts and hills, closer to 35 to 50mph inland, blowing in from the south/southwest.
