We would like to thank everyone who joined us for the screening of the State Funeral in the Old Wesleyan Chapel yesterday (see photographs below), as well as those who attended the United Service of Prayer and Thanksgiving for the life of Queen Elizabeth II, at St Mary's Parish Church on Sunday 18 September. The national period of mourning has now drawn to a close and Council business will resume as normal. However, the period of Royal Mourning continues until seven days after The Queen’s funeral. You can keep up to date with any related events on the Royal Family Website.
Thank you to everyone who left floral tributes outside the Old Wesleyan Chapel. These will be removed this week and composted. A particular thank you to the Guides, Brownies and Rainbows who crafted a very special remembrance wreath (see photograph below).
Thank you also to those who wrote messages in our Books of Condolence. We will be keeping the Books of Condolence open in the parish churches on all of the islands and in the Old Wesleyan Chapel on St Mary’s until 5pm on Tuesday, 20 September 2022, before they are collected and placed in our Council archive.
