The annual meeting of Council took place on 14 May 2024 and saw new appointments across committees and roles within the Council of the Isles of Scilly. Cllr Robert Francis was re-elected unanimously as Chairman of Council. Cllr Frances Grottick was re-elected unanimously as Vice-Chairman.

Cllr Robert Francis, Chairman of Council, said: "I would like to thank my fellow Councillors for re-electing me as Chairman of the Council of the Isles of Scilly for a seventh term. As many of you will be aware, I announced last year that I did not intend to stand for Chairman this year. However, I reconsidered this decision in light of the huge amount of work and large projects your Council is currently undertaking and on the understanding that my fellow councillors wished me to stand again for the final year of this Council. I am grateful for the support shown to me in this role and will continue to strive to achieve our aims and do my utmost for the community on Scilly.”
Cllr Frances Grottick, Vice-Chairman of Council, said: "I'd also like to thank my fellow Councillors for re-electing me as Vice-Chairman of Council and enabling me to continue my work as Lead Member for Finance, Governance, Risk and Performance for another year. The amount of work to be undertaken during the final year of this Council is, once again, substantial but I look forward to meeting our challenges with the support of my colleagues.”
