We’re inviting residents and stakeholders to share their views on the Early Stage Consultation Draft of our Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan, which was approved at the meeting of Full Council on 18 November 2025.
The Conservation Area plays a vital role in protecting the unique character and heritage of the islands. The appraisal and management plan sets out recommendations to preserve and enhance this special environment for future generations. You can read more about the history and review process of the Isles of Scilly Conservation Area on our website.
We need your feedback on the draft to help shape the final plan and to ensure it is implemented in a way that supports Local Plan policies that reflect the needs and aspirations of our community. Together, we can protect the Isles of Scilly’s distinctive heritage and ensure it thrives for years to come.

Next steps
After the survey closes, we’ll review all responses and use them to shape a new Conservation Area Character Statement. This will become official planning guidance (a Supplementary Planning Document or SPD) and help update heritage policies in the Local Plan.
Prior to adoption the Supplementary Planning Document will be subject to further consultation, as required. Representations received during the consultation period will then be considered before the document is amended as necessary and taken back to Full Council for approval and adoption.
