The Met Office has issued a Yellow warning for wind for the islands between 05:00 and 16:00 on Tuesday 27 January 2026. You can read full details of the warning in the Met Office website.
The very strong gusts forecast for Storm Chandra are likely to loosen further material from structures and trees already damaged by Storm Goretti.
Please take any precautions you safely can to secure any unstable structures in advance of the warning period and stay inside during the worst of the weather if there is no need for you to be outside.
If you do go outside, please do not use any paths which are closed, avoid wooded areas and storm damaged property if you can, and look out for flying debris and further damage to trees and buildings in the coming days.
If you have any concerns about hazards which may pose a risk to public safety as a result of weather forecasts, please call 01720 424450 or email environment@scilly.gov.uk during office hours. Outside of working hours, please call (do not text) 07747 767965. Any concerns about immediate risk to life should be reported by calling 999 as usual.
Please also continue to keep an eye on the Met Office website for changes to the forecast, and keep up with updates from other local organisations via their own channels.
Forecasts during storm events can change very quickly. Thank you for helping pass these messages on to anyone you think may not see them immediately.
