Business Energy Efficiency Scheme

The Council of the Isles of Scilly is committed to helping businesses reduce their carbon emissions and energy costs.  Funding is now available to local small to medium sized businesses to support the installation of renewable energy and energy reduction measures.

The project is called the Business Energy Efficiency Scheme (BEES).

BEES is a £390,596 investment fund, financed by Her Majesty's Government Local Growth Fund through the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Local Enterprise Partnership.

The project complements the business support provided by Hitachi’s Smart Energy Islands project.

It offers up to 65% part-funding for a range of energy efficiency measures.

What can BEES fund?

The funding can support the costs of purchasing, delivering and installing a range of energy efficiency measures including:

  • Improved insulation and lighting
  • Solar PV panels and associated battery storage
  • Solar thermal panels
  • Air, ground or water source heat pumps
  • Building Energy Management Systems

Financial support is available for local businesses and starts from a minimum of £1,667 project spend. Support will require 35% match funding by applicants.

Which businesses are eligible?

To qualify, your business must be:

  • a SME (employing less than 250 employees)
  • situated in and trading from the Isles of Scilly
  • either as a sole trader or a registered company or a payer of business rates
