Are you organised and efficient? Do you have excellent IT, communication, and marketing skills? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!

We are looking for a Learning, Development and Skills Assistant to join our team. This role offers flexible working hours and we are also open to discussions around hybrid working arrangements based on the needs of the service.

In this role, you will provide vital support to the Learning, Development and Skills team, contributing to the effective delivery of a range of services and projects within the Learning, Leisure and Customer Services Department. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the community by supporting adult learners and helping them achieve their goals.

As a front-line position, you will work 20 hours per week, providing contact and support to customers, external partners, and organisations. You will also offer administrative support to the Learning, Development and Skills Team. Your responsibilities will include supporting access to learning for both Council employees and the local community through a range of marketing, promotion, advice, signposting, and learner support mechanisms.

Join us in this varied and rewarding role, where you can make a positive impact and help shape the future of adult learning in our community.

The responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Marketing the service through a variety of means
  • Supporting with data entry, collation of reports and data returns
  • Assisting in the set up and close down of courses both in terms of room set up and with admin.

  • Supporting learners with additional needs (e.g., Dyslexia software, exam support)
  • Keeping up to date with technological developments which would benefit the service and its users.
  • Offering support to tutors and learners with IT equipment set up and trouble shooting.
  • The post holder will also provide cover on the Customer Hub reception points when staff are ill or on leave.

This role will suit someone who has previous administration experience and is looking for a career in an Adult Education setting. You will have excellent communication and customer service skills and be able to prioritise your tasks in a busy working environment. Training opportunities are available, and the post holder will gain an understanding of how the Council delivers a broad range of services to the islands.
