The Chairman and Vice-Chairman of Council, supported by their fellow Councillors and senior officer colleagues, invite you to attend our annual public meetings this autumn. Come along to provide feedback on current Council activity, ask questions about the issues which are important to you and share your ideas about how we can better meet the needs of the community, as we develop our plans for the year ahead.

Cllr Joel Williams, Chairman of Council, said: “This will be my first round of annual public meetings as Chairman, and I am very much looking forward to updating everyone on Council activity and exchanging views on matters affecting the islands. I believe these meetings are an important opportunity for the kind of constructive discussions that help Councillors, officers and the community understand and support each other better throughout the year, so I’d love to see as many people at each meeting as possible. Please help us spread word of the meetings and feel free to contact your Councillors if there are any particular questions you would like raised on your behalf.”
What to expect
Whilst individual topics of conversation may vary from island to island, our annual public meetings follow the same format each year:
- opening remarks from the Chairman of Council
- a review of the year so far from the Chief Executive, including updates on major projects and day-to-day service delivery
- an opportunity for the members of the community in attendance to ask questions or share their views on Council activity, or any subject affecting life on the islands.
This year your Councillors are particularly keen to discuss the development of the new Corporate Plan and recent events relating to inter-island boating.
Everyone is welcome at our public meetings, so please encourage your friends and family to attend. Online attendance will not be possible, but we will aim to produce a summary of the discussions once all of the meetings have taken place.
