AONB Commitment

Across the Country, Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) Partnerships are reviewing their activities in the face of budget cuts.

The Council of the Isles of Scilly (CIOS), along with all Isles of Scilly AONB Partnership co-funders, is committed to the continuance of current funding levels as it assimilates the impact of the next Government Comprehensive Spending Review in 2016.

Since November 2013, the Isles of Scilly AONB Partnership Executive Group has been working to transform the AONB Partnership into a more delivery-focussed body. The CIOS will retain the statutory functions and provide the conduit for Defra funding. The governance of the AONB Partnership will be led by the AONB Executive Group, along with an AONB Advisory Group. The AONB Partnership will host a twice yearly Community Forum to raise the profile of the AONB designation and the Partnership’s work to deliver the AONB Management Plan.

Recently we have said farewell to our AONB Manager, Dr Trevor Kirk, who leaves Scilly to return to his native Yorkshire. We thank him for all his hard work on behalf of the Isles of Scilly AONB Partnership and wish him the very best of success for the future.
