The statement of persons nominated for the St Mary’s by-election has been published today.
Two people have been nominated for the vacancy:

PEACOCK, John David Wain
A poll will take place on Monday, 22 May 2023 to determine the winner.

To vote in this by-election:
- you need to be registered to vote. Please refer to our webpage on registering to vote for further information.
- if you intend to vote at the polling station, you will need to show photo ID before you can be given your ballot paper. This is a new requirement that was introduced by the Elections Act 2022. Please refer to our webpage on voter ID.
To take effect for this by-election:
- applications to register to vote must be received before 12 midnight on Wednesday, 3 May.
- applications for a postal vote must be received by 5pm on Thursday, 4 May.
- applications for a proxy vote must be received by 5pm on Friday 12 May (unless you are changing from a postal vote to a proxy vote in which case the application must be received by 5pm on Thursday, 4 May).
- applications for a Voter Authority Certificate (a free voter ID document for those who do not already have an acceptable form of photo ID) must be received by 5pm on Friday, 12 May.
