Please be aware that there has been a spillage of sodium hydroxide (caustic soda) at St Mary’s quay.
The chemical was spilt whilst being transferred from the Gry Maritha.
The spillage occurred some time before 14:30
The area has been cordoned off whilst clean-up operations continue.
UPDATE (15:15): the Scillonian III should now be departing on time, with access via the boat Firethorn from the Old Quay. Please contact the steamship company for further information.
Tripper boats will be using the old quay (tides allowing).
