Did you miss yesterday’s meeting of Full Council? Here are the key points from the meeting held on 8 December 2015.
- Members agreed a Gambling Statement of Principles and that there be no casino permitted on the islands.
- A calendar of meetings was agreed from May 2016 to May 2017.
- Vice-Chairmen of committees will now be paid £1,003 per year, in line with the recommendations from the Independent Remuneration Panel. Members agreed to revisit the issue at a later date with more councillor participation.
- Members voted in favour of supporting the current democratic representation levels of 21 councillors, including 2 from each off-island, and to make this case to the Boundary Commission should it be necessary.
- Public Spaces Protection Orders could be coming to Scilly, with Members backing the start of a consultation process. This could lead to the introduction of Orders and the issuance of fixed penalties for offences which affect people’s wellbeing in public spaces, such as dog fouling. Keep an eye out for the start of the consultation.
- Cllr Adrian Davis resigned from the Council with immediate effect.
