Council Receives Share of £183 Million Roads Repair Funding

The Council of the Isles of Scilly has today received a grant of £80,827 for road repairs from central Government. This follows a claim submitted by the authority back in February for repairs to damage roads caused by this winter's appalling weather.

The money will be combined with other funds to pay for the resurfacing of the roads around St Mary's that is due to start in the next few weeks.

Cllr Steve Sims, Chair of General Purposes says "This is a very welcome funding addition to the resurfacing scheme, and couldn't have come through at a better moment. The officers involved should be commended for getting this through so quickly, in less than 2 months."
