The first phase of works to redevelop Porthmellon Waste Site is due to start in the middle of July. In order to ensure that there is enough space on the site it is necessary to remove all the residual black bag waste that accumulated at the beginning of the year, along with some of the older waste such as bulky waste and broken glass that cannot be recycled.
United Environmental Solutions Ltd, who are contracted by the Council, will be removing a significant amount of waste from the Porthmellon site in early July. To facilitate this bulk removal to the mainland and allow for its containerisation and shipment, the Porthmellon Waste Management Site will be closed and therefore unable to accept commercial and residential waste for approximately 10 days.
We will confirm the actual dates of the closure of the site as soon as possible to minimise any inconvenience, although early indication is that it will probably be between Wednesday 1 July and Friday 10 July inclusive. Whilst the site is closed, both commercial and domestic waste will continue to be collected as normal.
