[UPDATE 29/11/24: The road will be reopened at 10.30am on 29 November 2024. The collapsed wall at Tregarthen’s Hotel which prompted the closure was quickly reported to Cornwall Building Control and repaired by contractors employed by the hotel. The Council has undertaken all of the checks required in order to reopen the road and we have agreed to leave the barriers along the length of the wall in place until a surveyor can inspect the wall themselves. Please continue to take care when passing the area and leave the barriers in place. Thank you for your understanding.]
An emergency road closure has been put in place from Starboard Light Cottage to the Mermaid Inn Car Park due to a wall collapse.
A two-way system is now in place outside the Mermaid Inn to enable continued access to St Mary's Quay. Vehicles passing the Mermaid Inn are required to give way to vehicles coming from St Mary's Quay. All emergency services, taxis, haulage companies and the Harbour Master have been informed.
We will issue an update when the road has been re-opened. If you are able to avoid the area in the meantime, please do so.
Please email the Environment team at environment@scilly.gov.uk or call 01720 424450 if you have any enquiries.
Thank you for your patience as we work to resolve the issue.
