Update 23 December 2016: further to yesterday's call for expressions of interest (below), we would like to clarify that a full tender would not be required. The council is at this stage only seeking to initiate discussions with any parties who may be interested in running the facilities.
The Council of the Isles of Scilly currently operates the swimming pool at Normandy and the gym at Carn Gwaval. We understand that these facilities are important to the community; however, we regret that it may no longer be possible to run them. The authority is under significant financial pressure and needs to make substantial savings.
We therefore wish to test the market and seek expressions of interest to take over the running of the pool and/or gym facility for the community. At this stage we are seeking proposals from all individuals, community groups, businesses and other organisations.
If you would like to submit an expression of interest or would like to find out more, please contact us at eoi@scilly.gov.uk. Submissions can also be made at the Town Hall reception; please mark your letter for the attention of the Chief Executive.
Submissions must be received by 5pm on Monday 9 January 2017.
