Our Strengthening Families team has pulled together a list of activities being run on St Mary’s, by the Council and others, for families over the May half term break, from Tuesday 27 to Friday 30 May 2025.
You can find a list of these activities and information including who is running the session, the time, the cost, the venue and whether supervision and booking are required in the table below.
How to book your place
If booking is advised or required for the session you’re interested in, please contact the relevant service using the information set out at the bottom of this page to secure your place and make any payments required.
Access funding information
Anyone living on an off-island who has booked a place on any activity run by the Council over May half term can contact Children’s Services to arrange for a free ticket to be provided for one adult and their children to travel between their home island and St Mary’s on a scheduled boat. Family Swim at Normandy Pool (Active Scilly) Adult: £5.70 for Active Scilly Members and £8 for non-members. Family swim (up to 2 adults and 3 children): £15.90 for Active Scilly Members and £22 for non-members. All ages welcome. Children who are over the age of 8 AND can swim 25m confidently may attend Family Swims without an adult. All other children must be accompanied by an adult in accordance with the specified pool ratios. Booking advised. |

Outdoor cricket workshop with Phil Arnold and Adam Jewell (Children’s Services) Meet on the school MUGA for an outdoor cricket workshop. Get ready for the summer by practising your cricket skills! Time: 1pm-3pm Cost: Free 8-16 year olds Booking required – 20 spaces available |

Film showing at Old Town Inn (run by Helen Glenn) Time: 12pm-2pm Cost: £5 per child and £5 per adult to be paid to Old Town Inn at the door on arrival. The cost of admission includes juice, popcorn and an ice cream during the film. Open to pre-school and primary age children. All children must be accompanied by an adult. No need to book - just turn up! |

SENDsationals multi-sport and soft play in the Sports Hall (Children’s Services) This is a quieter multi-sport and soft play session for young people who prefer these environments with soft mats, padded shapes and gentle games. Time: 10:30am-11:30am For children 4+. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. All parents are welcome to stay and join the fun! Booking required – 15 spaces available. |

Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) Garrison Wildlife Hunt (Children’s Services) Meet outside Tregarthen's Hotel to begin a wildlife walk and scavenger hunt on the Garrison. We’ll head back into town to have a packed lunch on Porthcressa Beach and do some bird spotting along the way. There may even be time to squeeze in an ice cream! The walk will end in the Hugh Street Park. Time: 11am-2pm Cost: Free For school years 3-6. Please provide a packed lunch for your child. Booking required – 15 spaces available |
