Holgates Green Sea Wall suffered significant damage to the wall’s structure during the recent storms, this has resulted in the current contract to complete the repointing work to be temporarily delayed while the Council commissions a contactor to carry out stabilisation and repair of the damaged section. The Council has permission from the environment agency to utilise recycled ground glass from the new glass crusher installed in the Moorwell Waste site and commissioned in December this year for any void filling work required. This is a good example of managing Island waste and recycling it in local projects – avoiding the cost (both financial and environmental) of importing materials from the mainland.
The Council are seeking quotes from any local builders or stone masons who would be interested in carrying out the restabilising work required. For further information and quote specifications please contact David Senior (Environment & Climate Change Officer) on 424009 or download more information here.
