[UPDATE 21/11/2025: The high and moderate risk ramps have been removed from the skate park and the safety fencing dismantled, to allow public access to the remaining ramp. The dismantled safety fencing will be removed completely from the site next week.]
We regret to inform the community that an inspection of the skate park at Carn Gwaval on St Mary’s has identified safety issues which require the immediate closure of the facility.
Safety fencing and signage is being put in place this morning (26 September 2025) and we ask that nobody enters the skate park area while the fencing and signage is present.
We understand that the Carn Gwaval Skate Park is a valued recreational space, especially for our young people, and that this closure will come as disappointing news. We apologise for any inconvenience caused, but hope that you will understand the need to prioritise the safety of our residents and visitors.
Following this closure we would like to work with our young people and existing users to explore potential plans for the future use of the space. We will issue an update as soon as we know more.
For all enquires please email premises@scilly.gov.uk or call our customers services team on 0300 1234 105 (option 7).
