The inspection looked at the way the service is monitored, access to information, learner progress, promotion of courses, tutor performance and training, and safeguarding.
The inspector identified a number of strengths of the service noting that “Leaders are clear in their purpose and ambition to provide high quality community learning for people in the Isles of Scilly. [They] understand the important role they play in supporting social learning activities that better connects the community and reduces the impact of geographical isolation.”
Areas for improvement were also identified, including the need to increase learners’ awareness of the careers information, advice and guidance on offer and increase the focus on learner progress to allow more effective planning of future curriculums.
Cllr Avril Mumford, Lead Member for Adults, said: “Achieving “Good” in all categories of an Ofsted inspection is something that the Council and the community can be very proud of. For a small island community this is extremely encouraging. Congratulations to Jo Evans and her team!”
