New business grants - call for information

UPDATE: 7 May 2020

The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy has advised that the guidance for the discretionary small business grant scheme has been delayed and will not be shared until next week. Government considers that more time is needed to discuss the funding available and the intended coverage of the scheme.

Thank you to everyone who has made us aware of their situation so far. The information you have provided has been really useful in gauging how many businesses were not covered by the original round of business grants.

We still don't know what the allocation for Scilly will be or how many businesses this will be able to support. We will update you as soon as we have received the information from government.

--

If you have been unable to access support (loans, grants, business rate relief) for example a B&B owner who pays Council tax rather than business rates, the Council of the Isles of Scilly wants to hear from you.

The government has announced additional grants to cover some instances where a business has not yet received support. We don't yet know how much the Council will be allocated, but it would be advantageous know the needs of businesses so we can understand how any funds we receive could be targeted at those most in need of support.

Please email kirsty.graham@scilly.gov.uk with your contact details and briefly explain why your business has been unable to access support so far. Initial responses are required ASAP and it would really help us build up an understanding quickly if we could receive responses by 5pm Tuesday 5 May.
