We’re introducing a new online booking system to make it easier for everyone to dispose of their waste and recycling at the Porthmellon Waste and Recycling Centre on St Mary’s.
Whether you’re disposing of household or commercial waste, you can book to access the site by clicking on the link in the box below for slots from 2 June 2025:
By booking a slot, users consent to our Privacy Notice and our Porthmellon Waste and Recycling Centre Terms and Conditions.
Householders
Householders can use the online booking system to secure a slot for a site visit between 1pm and 2.55pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as this is when the site accepts household waste and recycling.
These slots can be booked up to a month in advance, but same day online bookings can only be made until 12 noon.
The time of your slot is your arrival time on site.
If you would like to book a slot to dispose of household waste from 3pm until 4.45pm, you must call 01720 424450 or email zerowaste@scilly.gov.uk at least one day before.
Businesses
Businesses with a valid commercial waste permit can use the online booking system to secure a slot for a site visit between 1pm and 4.45pm on Mondays and Wednesdays, and between 1pm and 3.45pm on Fridays, as this is when the site accepts commercial waste and recycling.
These slots can be booked up to a month in advance, but same day bookings can only be made until 12 noon.
Businesses that would prefer a regular scheduled slot can call 01720 424450 or email zerowaste@scilly.gov.uk to make arrangements.
Existing bookings and booking methods
Bookings made prior to the introduction of the new system will be upheld. You do not need to take any action in relation to existing bookings.
Even after the introduction of the new system, bookings for the disposal of both household and commercial waste at the Porthmellon Waste and Recycling Centre can still be made by calling 01720 424450, or by visiting our customer hubs at the St Mary’s Library or Carn Gwaval Wellbeing Centre.
