Planning application fees increasing on 6 December 2023

Last summer government consulted on its intention to increase planning fees. We can confirm that the increased fees will come into force from 6 December 2023. Changes include:

  • A 25% increase in planning application fees across the board.
  • A 35% increase in fees for major schemes.
  • The ‘free go’ on resubmissions will be removed.
  • There will be an annual rise in fees every April from 2025 onwards.

These fees will apply to applications made to the Council of the Isles of Scilly on or after 6 December 2023. Further information on the forthcoming fees can be found in the Planning Portal Guide to the Fees for Planning Applications in England.

If have any questions about the changes to fees, please email planning@scilly.gov.uk or call 01720 424455.

Anyone seeking initial advice about fees or other general planning issues, which are not related to any active planning applications, can now book an in-person appointment with the Planning Officer as part of our new ‘Planning Advice Service’ trial, starting in January 2024.
