Members of the Transport Committee have recommended increasing the commercial airport fees and charges at the Isles of Scilly Airport by 5%. This would equate to an increase in landing charges of approximately £0.70 per passenger.
An increase in charges is required to meet the operating costs of the airport and to ensure that it runs safely. A recommended increase of 10-20% was rejected in favour of the lower amount of 5%, based on a predicted 4.8% increase in passenger numbers over the next year.
