Resurfaced Roads to be Marked

The resurfacing of our roads has provided an opportunity to assess and improve highway safety and traffic flow throughout St Mary’s.

The newly resurfaced roads will soon be marked using thermo-plastic lines, including more safely redesigned junctions outside the Town Hall, the junction at Rose Hill and Moorwell Lane. In addition, a new  “Give-Way” line will be marked at the Bank to improve circulation and safety.  Other changes include new centre lines at Rose Hill, Telegraph and along the narrow corners at Longstone and Normandy.

Yellow lines will be marked in parts of Hugh Town along with new signage clearly showing the extent of any parking restrictions to ensure they are enforceable. The restrictions will be the same as previously and apply to parts of the town generally between 9am-6pm with some 24 hour restrictions to guarantee emergency access. We also recognise the need for additional parking facilities so the Mermaid car park will contain clearly marked parking spaces to ensure the area is used more effectively whilst providing sufficient access for emergency and service vehicles.
