Following the completion of restocking of aggregates on Sunday and recent preparation works on Telegraph Road Lagan Construction Ltd is pleased to advise the short term programme of road works as follows:-
Wednesday 25th June
After the completion of work on Moor Well Lane on Wednesday evening the resurfacing works will switch to Telepgraph Road. The works will commence just outside Radio Scilly at the entrance to Porthmellon Industrial Estate and will proceed towards the Parting Carn junction. Due to the narrowness of the road in places and our laying techniques the road will be closed during resurfacing. A partial re-opening will be made when the turning to Porthloo has been reached and the asphalt has had time to cool.
At this juncture traffic to / from Porthloo to / from Hugh Town will be able to go via Rose Hill on the newly resurfaced section of Telegraph Road. We expect this to be early in the afternoon – please watch for the removal of signs and listen to announcements on Radio Scilly.
Paving will continue as far as possible towards the Parting Carn junction. Only when we are close to reaching this will the junction be closed and at that point traffic will not be able to travel to from Parting Carn Road turning right on to Telegraph Road going towards Longstone Terrace.
The section of Telegraph Road from the Old School to Porth Mellon Industrial Estate will not be resurfaced today. All manhole cover will be raised in this area. Also similar preparation works will continue in Jerusalem Terrace.
All traffic from Hugh Town to the Airport and the country areas is advised to travel via Old Town.
Thursday 26th June
Works scheduled for today are the resurfacing of the section of Telegraph Road from the Old School to Porth Mellon Industrial Estate. Preparation works will continue in the Jerusalem Terrace and Garrison Hill areas.
Please note that the programme can change due to weather and operational reasons but we do not anticipate any change in the short term works described.
Lagan Construction Ltd sincerely apologises for any disturbance during these works and thanks you in advance for your co-operation and forbearance.
Please contact us on 07825 167569 if there are any problems during this work.
