Road resurfacing – Old Town Lane and Parting Carn Road

Following the road resurfacing works in Hugh Town over the last few days Lagan Construction Ltd will now work on sections of Old Town Lane & Parting Carn Road (A3110).

Wednesday 20th August

From 10 am this morning works will commence on the section of Old Town Lane (upper section) from the pottery to Parting Carn Junction. Initially this will be preparation works with localised planing and raising of manhole covers, etc. followed by resurfacing.

It is possible that preparation works will then be done in the late afternoon on the adjacent Parting Carn Road.

The road (Old Town Lane upper section) will be re-opened in the early evening.

Whilst this road is being resurfaced access to the airport from Hugh Town will be via Old Town. To the airport from the upper part of the island will be via Telegraph Road, Hugh Town and Old Town.

Thursday 21st August

At the start of the day any preparation works to Parting Carn Road will be completed and then it will be resurfaced. This is expected to take until approximately the middle of the day. After the asphalt has had a chance to cool the road will be re-opened – most likely late afternoon.

Whilst this road is being resurfaced access to the airport from Hugh Town will be via Old Town. To the airport from the upper part of the island will ideally be via Telegraph Road, Hugh Town and Old Town. Also for access to Hugh Town from the Eastern part of the island it will be better if Telegraph Road and High Lane are used.

Friday 22nd August and Saturday 23rd August

On completion of works in the Parting Carn area works will switch to the section of Old Town Lane from Pilot’s Retreat to the 5 Islands School. This will also include a short section of lane to Carn Gwaval

Details of routes and timings will be given nearer the time.

Please take extra care when driving, cycling and walking when the roadway is in the prepared, planed state as ironwork will protrude above the existing surface. Not all raised covers will have individual warning signs.

Lagan Construction Ltd sincerely apologises for any disturbance this essential operation causes and thanks you in advance for your continuing co-operation and forbearance.

Please contact us on 07825 167569 if there are any problems during this work.
