Screening of the live broadcast of the State Funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

We will be opening the Old Wesleyan Chapel at 11am on Monday, 19 September 2022 in order to offer the community the chance to come together to watch the live broadcast of the State Funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The State Funeral will take place at Westminster Abbey in London and will be broadcast live on television, radio and online. The Funeral Service and associated ceremonial arrangements will pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II’s extraordinary reign and Her Majesty’s remarkable life of service as Head of State, Nation and Commonwealth. A summary of the arrangements for the State Funeral and Committal Service can be found on the Royal Family website and the State Funeral programme will be made available on the gov.uk website in due course.

The funeral service will include a nationally observed two-minute silence to reflect on the life and reign of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and it is estimated this will take place at 11.55am. As this timing is approximate and we want to observe the silence respectfully during the screening, we will close entry to the Old Wesleyan Chapel at 11.45am and ask that nobody enters or leaves the building until the doors are reopened at approximately 12 noon.

Please bear in mind that it is difficult for us to judge how many people will wish to come to the Old Wesleyan Chapel on this occasion, so we advise that you arrive in good time if you will definitely require a seat.

The Old Wesleyan Chapel will then be closed following the screening and reopened again on Tuesday, 20 September at 9am to enable further signing of the Book of Condolence until 5pm that night.
