By the close of waste operations today (4pm, Friday 4 April 2025), all households on St Mary's should have received their new recycling containers and leaflets explaining the new recycling service.
When to begin using the new containers
Households must begin using these new containers on their next collection day. Please remember that collection days have changed for some households on St Mary's, so you will need to check your collection day on our 'Household waste and recycling' webpage or refer to the leaflet delivered with your new containers.
What to do if you haven't received your containers
If you live on St Mary's and have not received your new household recycling containers by the close of play today, please email zerowaste@scilly.gov.uk or call 01720 424450 to get advice from the waste and recycling team.
What to do with your old household recycling sacks
You can either repurpose your old household recycling sacks yourself or return them to our Customer Service Hubs at Carn Gwaval or St Mary's Library, so we can repurpose them. We advise against using them as waste sacks as they are not designed to withstand the weight of household waste and are likely to split. Using them to contain household waste could also lead to confusion during the service transition period, which we would appreciate your help in avoiding.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we implement these changes.
